Description

The movie ignored the fact that øystein bullied Pelle and encouraged his suicidal tendencies.
At first I thought this was a rip off comedy, then I see that it’s actually a real based on movie taking itself serious. Why are they all speaking English (even the news anchors) in Norway? They even have American accents (except the news anchors that have British accents lol. Why not at least have Norwegian accents if you are going to use English? Oh because it’s asking too much from young actors these days to take language coaching and learn how to use other accents I suppose. This trailer has me so confused. I’ve long followed the theories and stories behind the drama with Mayhem and the band members lives, as well as black metal in general, and I was excited when I first heard about this because I thought it could be good, but this just looks like a bad Hollywood exploitation film. Made for American masses that don’t even know what black metal is. Who is this film supposed to please? I don’t know any black metal (especially Mayhem) fans that would enjoy this or think it’s good. Normal people who aren’t into black metal probably wouldn’t get it either. I’m still going to watch it, but this trailer has me baffled.
I would have loved a little sidebar on Ihsahn, obviously his work through Emperor is influential but his solo stuff has been mind blowing.
I love how that made Euronymous the hero even though he was arguably the most evil of all of them.

Do yourselves a favor, watch Until The Light Takes Us. This is like Scott Pilgrim. American Judaic Hollywood, etc.

This works great as a parody. What is presented here has nothing to do with the real events, most characters are straight out of an American teen movie, every character is completely different from the real life version in everything (looks, behavior) and the story is insultingly false. The book was already bad, the movie is about 100 times worse. No band gave the rights to its music, even bands that had no real involvement in the true events that the movie is trying, and failing spectacularly, to portray. I love the few good reviews and the downvoting of the one negative review that says the truth, the movie will bomb either way. If you want to see an American teen movie with romance, sex, American humor and a bit of fake drama then this is for you. If you want to see a serious drama based on tragic events then avoid it like the plague.
This is so much more evil than the De Mysteriis version.
